VP Board Preparation — Manufacturing

Executive Communication Coaching · VP · Promotion panel + board presentation · Bilingual coaching

Situation

A non-native English-speaking VP was preparing for a promotion panel followed by a board-level presentation. The stakes were high — both the internal advancement decision and the subsequent board exposure depended on clear, confident delivery in English.

Approach

Built the narrative for both the panel and the board presentation. Refined the slides — simplifying visuals, sharpening key points, and aligning slides with the spoken message. Ran mock Q&A until responses were calm, structured, and credible under pressure. Coaching was delivered bilingually — explaining in Mandarin why the English phrasing worked or didn't.

Outcome

The VP advanced through the promotion panel and delivered the board presentation without revision support. The preparation model — narrative, slides, mock Q&A — became the client's standard approach for subsequent high-stakes presentations.

Durability

The client has used the same preparation framework for three subsequent board presentations without external coaching support.

"First time I've delivered to the board without someone else rewriting my slides."

— VP

Takeaway Non-native English speakers don't need a Western communication style. They need their own message delivered clearly enough that the room stops noticing the accent.
